Delaware County Heat Plan 2019
Delaware County Council and various county agencies would like residents to be safe and healthy this summer season. Each year, in the United States, more people die from excessive heat than from hurricanes, lightning, tornadoes, earthquakes, and floods combined. Vulnerable populations such as older adults and people with health problems are most likely to suffer from heat-related illness during a heat wave. The county has developed a Heat Plan which includes how agencies prepare and assist vulnerable individuals during an extreme heat event. The Heat Plan also includes Heat Safety Tips, Tips to Avoid Dehydration, and Safe Use of Fans. A Heat Information Line, 610-872-1558, will be in effect from June 1, 2019-September 30, 2019. The heat line will include any extreme/dangerous weather alerts and tips to avoid heat related illness. To view the 2019 Heat Plan, click here.
According to the July 17, 2019 Delaware County Daily Times, the Radnor Township Building (the Radnorshire Room) located at 301 Iven Avenue will serve as a cooling center for local residents beginning July 17 through July 21. Radnor residents are welcome to take relief from the heat between 8am-9pm weekdays and between 9am-9pm on weekends.
