As a federal and state funded agency The County of Delaware Services for the Aging (COSA) must comply with the provisions of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Civil Service Commission. Consequently, hiring for most positions in this office is done from approved Civil Service lists.
The classifications used by this agency most often are Aging Care Manager 1, 2 and 3 and Aging Program Assessor. COSA uses the Local Government version of all the classifications. The State Civil Service Commission uses a different job code to distinguish positions located in state or local government. You can get information and apply directly online at www.employment.pa.gov; however application forms can only be submitted when a position has been posted. All COSA vacancies will be posted on the website. If you have further questions regarding the Civil Service process, we encourage you to contact the local office of the State Civil Service Commission in Philadelphia at (215) 560-2253 to determine positions for which you might qualify.
As a full-time county employee of COSA, you would qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF). The PSLF Program was established to encourage individuals to work in public service by forgiving the remaining balance of their Direct Loans after they have made 120 qualifying payments while employed by a qualifying employer.
